Beloved aunt has breast cancer
Beloved aunt has breast cancer
I am in shock. I just found out that my aunt has an agressive form of breast cancer. She raised me from the time I was a baby and she has always been my rock and the glue that held our crazy dysfunctional family together.
My alcoholic mother (who didn't raise me) just phoned to tell me, so I need to get more information. They will be taking my aunt for a biopsy on Friday, so we will get more information then.
The entire family is in shock. My aunt has always been there, the only person in my life who has always been reliable and good and steady, through all of the insane ups and downs in my life.
Please say a prayer for her. She is a very good human being.

hopefully after the biposy the docs will know more about what stage it is and what the treatment opitions are.
it is very scary, but people do fight this awful disease and win....even if it is just to have some extra years with the family. my grandmother had breast cancer, and after many treatments, she lived for several more years. she eventually passed away, however it was from complications with diabetes, not the cancer.
my roomate shirley had lung cancer and she did not last as long. but what really helped me was to educate myself about it as much as i could. it wasn't as scary if i knew a little of what to expect. this is a really great website, and has lots of information, as well as information you can order and it is shipped to you for free: http://www.cancer.gov/
we will all keep you and your family in our prayers.

Oh Robin, I feel so sad for both of u. I know she will be a fighter, she sounds like a strong and lovely lady. My grandmother had breast cancer twice and got through it. I will pray for u both. With Love, Kerry

Robin....I am so sorry. Hope when you get all the information that there are some hopeful routes you can take.
I am thinking about the same subject today. My mother died of breast cancer 19yrs ago. My middle sister went in for an MRI and biopsy today of a lump that was found 2 weeks ago and another that was just noticed.
You and your aunt are in my prayers.

I'm over the initial shock, and feeling some denial now.
My aunt has decided to get chemo and a mastectomy, the operation will be in the fall. She tried to put a good spin on it, saying that they could do a tummy tuck after they take her breast. She has a really positive attitude, but she knows that the next eight months will be really bad, with the chemo and operation.
Your words of support and encouragement are very heart warming. What a loving community this is.

Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner Robina.
I will keep both you and your aunt in my prayers. Just try to encourage her to remain as positive as possible. Easy to say, harder to do. But a positive outlook can help tremendously! Keep us posted, ok?
