Ha....I was just listening to that, too a day or two ago...

I find it fascinating how sick these songs were when we were young and trying to figure out to "do" relatinoships...the "baby, I can't live without you," crud!!

I hate the way songs always confuse sex with love...and why do people (especially teens and early 20-somethings) find that so confusing??

I wonder...

LOL, I used to love that song in High School. Didn't think of it in a codie way back then, saw it as being strong and not allowing everyone to know how I really felt about my jerk of a boyfriend that I had back then.
Interesting enough, I do see it as somewhat codie now as it tends to be that the singer is still "waiting" and "sending signals" for the person to come back.

Here's the lyrics for those of you that don't know the song..........

Everytime I think of you
I always catch my breath
And I'm still standing here
And you're miles away
I wonder where you're at

And There's a storm thats raging
Through my frozen heart tonight

I hear your name
In certain circles
And it always makes me smile
I spend my time
Thinking about you
And its almost driving me mad

And there's a heart thats breaking
Down this long distance line tonight

I ain't missing you at all
Since you've been gone
Away
I ain't missing you
No matter what
My friends say

Theres a message in the wild
And I'm sending you this signal tonight
You don't know
How desperate I've become
And it looks like I'm losing my mind
In your world
I have no meaning
So I'm trying hard to understand

And its my heart thats breaking
Down this long distance line tonight

I ain't missing you at all
Since you've been gone
Away
I ain't missing you
No matter what
My friends say

And theres a message that I'm sending
Like a telegraph to your heart
And If I can break this secret
I'll break, overload

I aint' missing you at all
Since you've been gone
I ain't missing you
No matter what
My friends say

I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you
I aint' missing you
I can lie to myself (repeat)

I'm an eighties baby myself- grew up with that song blaring on the radio in my teens. I always HATED that song and now I know why LOL. Journey's "Open Arms" is another one that really gets my goat.

Funny thing about Journey.
I have only teared up (Not even cried) about 3 times since D left.

The first was because Journey was on the radio.

I love Journey, but Gawd, could they be anymore depressing?

Blech....

Actually, if you stop and think about it, I think most of the songs of the 80's were about heartbreak, sex, and partying! Depresses me when I think back on it - as I am where I am today.

Heard Bon Jovi's "You give love a bad name" - hmm....thought that was pretty appropriate to post here as well.
