Great site
Great site
Hello All,
Great site! The best I have found in its class.
I am a newly sober - 10 days sober - 44 yo man. Straight alcoholic here, I last smoked weed about 4-1/2 years ago and have never even touched anything else. Why should I? Alcohol was enough for me. Actually it was too much for me, so thats why I am quitting.
This is my 4th attempt at quitting so hopefully I'll get it right this time!

Glad you found us. Have you found AA? It worked for me--and still works. I use this site to supplement AA meetings. I need to get with real people in real time who are trying to do the same thing.
Welcome to SR and we are glad that you found us. Yes this is a great place and a lot of information here. Straight alcohol, that is OK a drug is a drug is a drug. I know that if I didn't go to my AA/NA meeting that I wouldn't ever be able to stay clean, every time I relapse I quit going to meetings. Yes we have to finally say enough is enough. Hope you keep posting and maybe even try a meeting you will find people there just like here.

Wow!
Dgillz and undertow, WELCOME!
I totally agree that SR is instrumental in recovery, although, it is not the ONLY thing in my recovery toolkit. It has really helped give me deeper understanding of the complexities of addiction, the many paths to recovery and the ins and outs of 12 step programs.
I am enjoying AA these days. Sober a little over 6 months. Check out a few face to face meetings, and come back to SR often. Beats being belly up to the bar at night or filled with remorse the morning after.

Undertow, where are you in OC? I spent 14 years there myself, in Costa Mesa.

Welcome! Glad to have you here - there are super people here, with lots of experience and very big hearts! One of the best things about this site is being able to read tips from others on fighting this thing off. If you have a bad day and are feeling tempted, just get on here and holler - you'll find help. Just being able to chat with folks who have gone through the recovery stages and know what bad days are like is invaluable (and they can give you the coolest tips!). Hugs to you!
