Post-holiday check in and mucho gratitude

Hello, all! Hope everyone made it through the holiday weekend OK. I wouldn't have if it weren't for the great folks here, but now it's behind me and I feel pretty good about getting through it sober - and it was FUN! I thought it would be a total drag without alcohol and I was wrong - how nice! Love & heartfelt thanks to SR! Hope to hear from others who've made it, and even if you didn't, keep posting with us and get a fresh start!

Hi, wishful. I made it through the weekend just fine. I went to see a couple of movies and had a BBQ with my clean and sober friends. Everything I used to do when I was drinking and drugging, I can do clean and sober and much, much happier. Life on life's terms is so much better!

Recovery rocks!

so glad to hear you made it and had a good time. I was not so smart in some of my choices and am trying to get it back on track. I have a meeting with my addiction therapist later today and a meeting tomorrow. I am so weak and trying not to beat myself up to much. Congrats on staying clean.

I had a great sober weekend. We had some delicious hamburgers and they were BIG burgers thanks to the person who made those patties, LOL. I love grilling out.

My grandfather is a veteran so my brother, sister, and me planned a special surprise for him. We rolled him in the living room in his wheel chair and we all personally thanked him for his service and for fighting for our freedom. We all gave him a speech and then we had my brother sing "Some Gave All" by Billy Ray Cyrus. He really appreciated that and he looked soooo happy! It was really nice.

I'm such a hermit. I spent the weekend alone, again. By choice of course. I love being a bum. However, I am looking forward to going back to work tommorrow. Enough is enough. Even I can only take so much R&R.

It's wonderful when you can get to the point when holidays are just another day and you don't even think about drinking. It used to be all I would think about and all I would do. I agree with Phinny. Recovery Rocks!
