Hey Y'all:
I have been taking my zoloft (100 mils a day) for a week now. I am already experiencing HUGE benefits to the medication. Alot more sleep, not so angry, not thinking bad thoughts or feeling that feeling of doom.
However, I cant shake being sick to my tummy. Sometimes throwing up, sometimes not. This is a big deal as I dont weight enough now. Also, I cant bring myself to eat much so I have been drinking those Ensures.
Anyone know if this may pass?
Anyone know of something to make your very hungry?
Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Have you tried Gravol or some kind of OTC medicine for nausea?
Or maybe talk to your dr and see if he/she has any suggestions about how to get over the nausea?
I'm glad you're feeling so much better, but obviously the not eating much is not going to be a good thing if it continues.

I took Zoloft for over 2 years and if I remember correctly, the stomach discomfort was gone after about 3-4 weeks. I actually gained some weight while taking it. I'm glad you are getting some relief from the depression!

For nausea: Try a few drops of pure peppermint essential oil, preferably organic mixed into about a thimble full of food grade oil such as almond, sesame or even coconut (the carrier oil must be unscented). Massage it into the skin of your belly, above the navel, directly over your stomach.
This helps my patients with nausea related to chemo. You can also massage the same mixture into the arches of the feet, which have reflex points to your stomach.
Also, put someting cold at the base of your neck for a few minutes.
For appetite, like Levi said, vigorous exercise in the fresh air. At first you may need to retrain yourself to sit down and eat. Do you enjoy cooking? This can be a great practice in self mothering! I know you have strong maternal instincts, so it will be a great time to apply them to yourself. Care for yourself the way you would if you were your child. Nourish yourself in all ways.
Good luck! Hope some of this might help you.

If the issue is one of stomach discomfort... ginger root is amazing! Japanese food is usually accompanied by it b/c it settles the stomach and assists with absorption... pickled ginger that comes with sushi is particularly tasty... can even get it at safeway.
Well I've had a great day, thank you for letting me share.

Hey (((beach))),,
That is so great that the Zoloft is helping you feel better!!
Not so great that you aren't feeling good physically.. But, it's just been
a week. I do think that this feeling nausea will pass after a period of time.
It normally just takes a little while for our bodies to adjust.
You have recieved GREAT advice here.. You might want to post down in
the Mental Health forum as well. There might be some very good advice there
too. Or you might want to call your Pharmacist, or check with your doctor.
But gosh, after having such great results, after such a short time, it would stink to
have to go off..
I hope you start feeling better soon. I'll say a prayer for you.
Hugs,
Becky

Hi Beachbabe and welcome. I'm so glad the zoloft is helping your depression. I've been prescribed zoloft, paxil, prozac and a few more anti depressants I can't remember. None did any good. As far as your appetite, the anecdotal advice you got is terrific but it's just that anecdotal. What worked for someone else may do you no good or perhaps the opposite. Except for exercising.
You should call whoever prescribed the zoloft and explain your situation to a trained professional. I would guess you're not the 1st to experience this reaction and who better to know than the Dr. who prescribed your zoloft. Good luck.
God bless
