new here

hello i am new here, and a wife of an addict. I had a few questions that i was hoping someone could help.

When trying to quit cold turkey i know it is not easy but why seek other methods of trying to quit. Like h is on soboxone for his addiction to oc but still uses coke and now into drinking, does it ever stop?

Hi Lorie,

Welcome to SR.

I don't know anything about suboxone, but I know quitting alcohol cold turkey, without medical supervision, can be fatal. If you like you might check out the Friends and Families forum on this board where you can probably find more information.

What do you mean by "...but why seek other methods of trying ot quit" ??

Are you suggesting that using coke and drinking alcohol is a means of trying to quit Oxycontin? Your husband isnt quitting. He is just trading addictions. Sobriety is just that,......sobriety. That means no drugs,...no booze. Clean and sober. Cant be clean OR sober if you are drinking and doing coke. And no,...as long as he 'thinks' the way of an addict,......and does nothing to counter that,...no, it doesnt ever stop.
