Made it
I made it to the 30 days that i promised myself and all of you.
I originally thought that i would test myself with one drink after the 30 was up but i think i am going to give sobriety another month or two before going that route. I'm just feeling too good and i am not missing the evenings at the bar with friends the way i thought i would.

That's great Meat! You are doing awesome... just be aware of that little voice inside you that is going to keep trying to tell you that it's okay to give drinking another go. It's going to keep trying to lure you, entice you, and help you rationalize yourself into another bottle. Keep fighting for yourself. You really are doing great.

Congrats Meat! That's awesome!
My mom tried that "just one drink" thing for about 5 years. In that time, she went to treatment 4 times, lost her home, lost her husband, almost lost her kids, was kicked out of about 6 homes (including mine), and almost died. I'm not trying to scare you, just something to think about......
30 days! Doesn't it feel great to have control over IT, instead of IT having control of you?

Your mind played a trick on you. You didn't want a drink to celebrate. When have we ever wanted just one drink? I never have. You likely didn't either, unless that drink was five or ten gallons. Alcohol is cunning, baffling and powerful. Don't let it back into your life. As you've read in this thread, it can be disastrous. Don't drink, no matter what.
I've been sober over 17 years. Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together.

Yay for you!!!! I'm so happy for you, and I'm right behind ya- today is 28 days for me. I also have thoughts of "well, maybe I wasn't that bad, and maybe I can just have one...." but then I think...why? What good things did drinking ever bring me?

dude... it's been 71 days for me and my mind still is tryin to tell me that "maybe I wasnt' that bad..." blah blah blah All I can say is...
I ain't fallin for it and you don't either! I hope someday that little voice in my head get's stuffed or replaced by a more supportive one! hehe Right now you all are my supportive head-voices.
