I Really Need Some Advice-Partner Addiction
My boyfriend of 6 years has had an on an off prescirption pain pill addiction. (benzo's primarily) He has been through withdrawl before and his mind seemed to disconnect. He was hospitalized and after a few weeks came out of it.
After being clean for a year, he slipped and binged for a week. Now he is suffering from severe paranoia, dilusions and extreme odd behavior. This has been going on for five days and I just don't know what to do.
It would be different if he thought he had a problem and would get help. But he thinks he can get through this alone, with help from his mom and I. I'm afraid to say or do anything to make things worse. He keeps telling me that everyone around him is acting weird, odd and thinks I may have done something to turn people againist him.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to get through this and what is happening? Also, how can I make him see his problem,he is in complete denial.
Please help!

He needs medical help if he is acting all weird call 911 and tell them what you have said here, he could go off at any moment. If they ask if you think he is a danger to himself or others you have to decide to say yes or no.
If you say yes they will probably transport immediately to the hospital for medical help and then for observation.
As you are "afraid to say or do anything to make things worse" you might tell the 911 operator that also.
This man needs help and he needs it now, after binging for a week.
And like Carol said you need Nar Anon for you. There is also a forum on this site.
I will keep you and him in my prayers.
Love and hugs,

In Fl. they have a Baker Act...
if he is a threat to himself or others
his Mom can have him committed
I think it is 3 days but not sure.
Once there he will be assessed as to his mental state.
That might or might not break down his denial

He isn't threatening and his problems kinda come and go. One minute he seems fine then he starts with the wierd behavior. He says it will take a few days to stop.
Are these symptoms common? How long do they usually last?
