hello everyone

hi.i'm a guy which had alcohol and cannabis addictions for 20 years. i stop all that since i did a 5 months therapy(dec 2004-may 2005). it was hard, i felt excluded by my ex-girlfriend which told me she wanted to continu to live with me but cheated with one of my supposed"buddy" 3 days after my admission, and completely cut contact with me then. we have 2 wonderful children. i passed through my therapy and i can swear that my experience of sobriety is one of suffering, not a pink cloud. i decided to stay sober day by day, kick my ass every day and be productive, honest. i'm a social worker in the field of mental health, let me tell you i'm not above facing problems myself(i volunteered 5 years in an addictive therapy center too...i was aware). now i'm studying to reach a master degree in public administration. i don't date another woman for the moment, i'm taking care of my daughter(9),my son(7), and myself. i need to help myself everyday, continu my therapy to stay sober. what is helping me is to remember where i come from and not return. i know i'm a good person, able to love and be loved. thanks for your readind.

Sylvest-
Congrads on your sober time. Welcome to SR. You are a good person, and you are doing the right thing for you and your children. I hope you will stick around SR, and continue to grow in sobriety. You've been sober longer than I have, and your story is inspirational to me. I'm an alcoholic who recently kicked a daily pot habit. I quit drinking in sept 05 and I quit pot 16 days ago.

Keep on going. You've helped me stay sober today.

It's a great habit to conscientiously remember where we come from. Once you forget you run the risk of "accidentally" going back there again. Keep up the positive attitude.

Hi Sylvest, Welcome to SR! I'm so glad you are here... and your children... what a gift you are giving them - your sobriety. So happy you are here.
