First ever AA meeting
First ever AA meeting
I posted under the Forum "Alcoholism" but wanted to drop a post here too for the people who like me are "newbies" to this whole soberiety thing.
It has been a month for me sober now and after many words of encouragement from folks up here I finally gathered up enough courage to go to my very first ever AA meeting.
All I can say is that I am SO glad I went. Ya'll can read all about it in I finally went and did it... MY FIRST AA meeting
So, THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me along. I hope this encourages someone else to conquer your fears and go to your first AA meeting too.

A lot of us have been richly rewarded by going to AA.
Where else are you going to see a biker and a doctor, a judge and a drug dealer sitting talkin recovery?
I went to AA and found a better class of people

Hi Suga,
Thanks for the link to your post about your first meeting experience, it was great, there just really isnt anything to fear, you can take what you need and leave the rest,
Congrats to you on your 30 days!

It's not a written rule Sugah, but lots of people find it a great help.
over here, I find that people who have been to rehab do that, and it sure seems to help them!
I did not go to a detox or Rehab ( never knew they existed til I got in the rooms) lol, but I did a huge number of meetings anyway, cos I grew to love thwem, still do
IMO the more meetings the better in early sobriety

According to some expertts on behavior...
it takes 90 days to change a destructive habit into a positive one.
That is why rehabs came out with the timeline.
It is not AA,
I think the AA saying...
"Meeting Makers Make It" is true.
The 1st year I averaged 1 a day.
My idea was that...
I drank everyday so....
