Going Crazy!!!!!!

I want to drink or get high NOW!!! I can't believe getting stuff ready for Christmas is a trigger. I guess cause I've never done it sober before.

What are you feeling? (Fear? Insecurity? Frustration? Anger?)
Call your sponsor or someone else and talk about it. Yes it's late, but better to call NOW than risk waiting and deciding to use. Get to a meeting as soon as possible.
And pray, pray, pray. You do NOT have to use, if you use the tools of the program.

I would have to disagree there it is not a dumb thought it is the thought of an addict. We are given only a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.

I just made a post of the NA forum yesterday that Expectations are not Reality. You know I think that has to do with a lot of it personally but that is IMO> I have a choice today and I hope that you make the choice of sobriety. I am sending good thoughts your way..

Love Vic

Hi NA

I have been sober for 35 days, and have thought about drinking on a regular basis. Even yesterday I was in a situation where I would always buy a 6 pack so I could have my daily fix. I thought about how my life use to be, all the problems that drinking brought me like being sick, being embarrassed, humiliated. It made my depression and anger to be amplified. It really lowered my quality of life.

They told me in these SR website to take staying sober, in little steps, one hour at a time.

So far it is working for me.

Hope it works for you.

Well I made it through the day sober and I hope everyone else did too.

It's kinda funny because I wasn't having any bad feelings last night, just getting stuff ready to cook and making pies. All the other years I am drinking and smoking pot while I do that so the thought came to my head that something was missing and that was it. And the urge came that I wanted to like the "old days". then to remember the old days feeling like crap xmas morning. NO THANKS!!

Hope everyone had a great day!!

(((((((((((((((Kathy))))))))))))))

Way to go. Yes it is different doing things sober and clean and yes those things will bring up triggers as we all know. But remember this too, put this memory in your bank account and the next time you can say Yes I got through it that time by doing this. I had a great day and you just made it better. Merry Christmas MY FRIEND>>>>

Love Vic

Glad you made it I did too, the holidays are a big trigger for sure, but as you said to remember the old days...feeling like crap is putting it mildly!

Great job!! And just think, now you can enjoy the flavor of the pies without scarfing them down due to the munchies.

I hope your holidays are going great.

Take care.

Good job, Kathy!!! Vic is right, doing things differently can be a huge struggle, but it really is all about change. One hour at a time, if need be. Glad you made it through.

I'm thinking about the next big hill to climb and that will be New Year's eve. But I can't worry about it, just take the day when it comes.

I'm glad we all made it through Christmas!!

Here in Japan, New Year's is considered the biggest holiday of the year. The several times I have been here for New Year's I can't remember a single person being drunk. Try to actually enjoy the day/night as something you'll remember. You can do it.

Take care.

I know what you mean Kathy. New Years will be a big hurdle for me as well. As cousin of mine invited me to her party and there will be alcohol. I don't think I will attend since I don't have that much sober time under my belt yet. I don't want to put myself in any uncomfortable situations. She might get a little upset that I don't attend, but I have to think about my sobriety first.

We can get through this and can actually remember what happened at New Years!
