questions about Al-Anon

My husband has been sober for a month. He is going to meetings and has found a sponsor. We have been reading the AA Big Book and listening to some speaker tapes. We live in a small town, he has meeting to go to several times a week but there are no Al-Anon meetings here. The closest ones are Thursday night at 7 PM and they are 30 minutes away. That is such a hard time for me to go. My husband asked at his AA meeting if there were any that we didn't know about and people there told him to have me come to there meetings. Should I go to his AA meetings? I think a group of Al-Anon people would help me more than AA. Also, after listening to a speaker tape yesterday I learned that I should be working on the steps as well as have a sponsor, is this true?? Any advise?? Thanks Mary

Hey Mary.
Going to AA meetings certainly couldn't hurt.
Of course, you would have more to relate to at an Alanon meeting.
Any chance you could start an Alanon meeting in the same place his AA meeting meets?
Maybe there are some other people in your area who would be interested.
If so, you could contact Alanon in your area for the specifics of getting a group started.
