She's BAAAAAAAACK!!!
Hi guys!! I'm out of detox!! 8 days sober today! Woo hoooo! It's been YEARS since I've gone 8 days. I checked in last Monday morning and got out last night. I started intensive (9-4) outpatient today, and then I go after work next week for 3 days; 2 hours each one. It was such a WONDERFUL experience. Wonderful, but scary. I came in there w/ a bang - being all excited and all, and then Wed., I crashed and just wanted to sleep b/c they had me so medicated up (and I wasn't alone....) The main nurse came into my room and told me to get out of bed around 9:30'ish (I was supposed to be ready for breakfast at 7:45). My "roomate" brought me back breakfast, and the nurse came back in and said "I'm just telling you the rules!", and I snapped "AND I'M JUST TELLING YOU I READ THE STUPID RULES!" Turns out it was the head nurse....uh oh... so you can guess that I spent the rest of the day w/ my tail between my legs!! But I made up for it the rest of the week. I went to 7 meetings, and even spoke at one!!
Anyway, thanks for those of you who sent me PM's. I really missed this site, and I told EVERYONE at detox/rehab about it. Those who remembered (i.e., not on heavy medz) I'm sure will join when they can. For those of you out there who think there's no hope, no joke - find a HP. Get into rehab/detox - it's WORTH IT! My HP got me through and continues to guide me each day towards sobriety for life. I know I have a tough road ahead, but I have faith. Oh, and I have 2 temporary sponsors that are great!
Anyway, just wanted to share. Thanks for reading.
Hugs and love,
DG

Hey DG,,
You sound wonderful Sounds like you have a great plan set up for yourself..
Which is great.. A really sound support system, is really, super important,, it really helps alot..
Hospital detox helps so much.. We were very fortunate that we were able to have a hospital detox, so many are unable to, for all kinds of reasons,,. And it sounds like you had a really positive experience..
I really hope now that you stick around, and both ask for, and give help to the people that are new, and feeling afraid and alone, the way we were, when we came here for the first time. I feel it's so important to give our experience,, so maybe, just maybe,, we can help others by showing them that it is possible, and you can get clean, and live a happy healthy life.. With work of course.
It's great to have you back..
Love,
Becky

Cool Beans DG..
I am glad that your detox experience was positive.
I know when I went to treatment ( i detoxed in a psych.ward) it was pretty much my only alternative, I had to be shielded and protected from myself... I had a one way ticket to hell and I was having a hard time giving it up. It ended up being a very good experience for me.
I learned alot about addiction and it's horrible habit of torturing the poor unfortunate souls who falls in to its deadly grip.
It is nice to know that SR is such a good part of your recovery.
Welcome Home
Keep the faith sister...

Thanks, Carol! I appreciate the shout-out. Yep, working on Day 34, and all is well. Even sleeping a bit...lol. I've been really busy with work (pre-Christmas deadlines), and haven't been able to post as much as I'd like.
Thanks everyone!!
Sorry for the late response, but my DSL was acting up (again), and NO, it wasn't "user error"! THANK YOU for all the kind words. Believe me, when I tried to log in since my last post, I was "jonesin'" (in a good way) to talk to everyone. I finished my last day treatment today, and start intensive IOP on Monday, Wed., and Thurs. nights. I've been to lots of meetings and have met some great people. A few women might even be my permanent sponsor if things work out! Yay!! (I have 2 temporary sponsors now, but I want one close to home.) I went to my first all-women's meeting today, and I almost cried through the whole thing b/c they made me feel SOOO welcome. I've even begun to speak at meetings, which is a HUGE step for me. Sooo, 12 days sober and counting. Some people have told me that I'm in the "honeymoon stage" and I know things always won't be so rosy, but I'll ride out the storm and I have some plans in place if/when things get rough. I learned WAY more than I thought I would at detox - stuff that will get me through.
Thank you, again, for the kind words, and for the tokens (you rock, man!) You all have been so sweet, and I hope after I'm over the humps, I can help someone, too. Until then, I'll keep posting and giving my 2 cents when it's appropriate (especilly if I'm logged in on Fridays, Jassman!), and keeping the faith. May you all be blessed in many ways.
Love and hugs,
DG
