Ashamed But Not to Proud to Ask for Help
Ashamed But Not to Proud to Ask for Help
Well, here I am again. Drinking again. Seems like that is how it is. Drink. Stop drinking. Drink again. Same old cycle. And I am ashamed to come back to SR and admit that. But then again, I know that you are some very supportive people and that you will not beat me up over it. I am doing that enough for all of us.
I hope that some of you remember me. My name is Angela and I have been a member here (off and on) for years. I have made some great friends at SR and have gotten some wonderful support. I just wanted to say hello again and that I will be seeing much more of all of you.
This time, I do have a plan though. I have a temporary sponser. She is great. I went to see my counselor yesterday. We are seeing about getting me into treatment. I've "come clean" with hubby. And when I asked my 15 year old daughter two days ago what she wanted for Christmas, her answer was "I want you to stop drinking and stop being a drunk".. Ouch. But, it is not for hubby or her or even my son that I want to quit (for good). It is for me. I want to find the old Angela that I barely even remember.
So, all of that being said, it is great to be back. If anyone has a short prayer list, please add me to it. I need all of them that I can get.
Love and Hugs to All

We'll wrap up the old Angela and put her under the tree for Christmas. A gift the whole family can enjoy. The gift that keeps on giving. It could be the best Christmas ever !!!

Angela...I'm new to this website, but considered an "old-timer" in AA circles. Looks like you just needed to do a bit more research; and, you're only proving to the rest of us that sober is better!!!
Even after we've quit drinking, there can come a time that we want to drink more than we want to stay sober...for whatever reason (sometimes we don't even need one). When we get to the point where we want to stay sober more than we want to drink, that is when the program of recovery will begin to work. It sounds as though you've reached that point...and, you will certainly be in my prayers for continued sobriety, as I hope I will be in yours and everyone else here.
We can all use the power of prayer! None of us should ever become so complacent that we think we've got it made.

welcome home!
Ang,
Hey girl. Don't be ashamed. You are not the first one to go back for some research. Relapse is not a requirement, but sometimes it is neccessary. I've heard that often. I had to do a little more research myself. I bet we discovered the same thing. It still sucks out there. It's much happier to be here and in AA. Life goes a little smoother when I don't have a drink or drug in my body.
You are my friend. No matter what. You are in my prayers, always. Pick your head up and look the world in the face. You are worth it and you deserve to be sober. We all do. Now do it, one day at a time.
Love you!!!!!
Sherry

Welcome Back!
Stick around here with us. Sober is definitely better.
I had to do some more research too and the results were the same.
It is good to see you back on here!
I will be praying for you Ang!
