I need help! My mother went into the hospital for internal bleeding. They found the cause, but now they have her going through detox and I do not understand what is happening to her. They have her in restraints! I am in Michigan and she is in Florida. Can anyone help me understand what she is going through and how long it will last. So many more questions too! Thank you!

KWSI - i'm sorry your mother is having medical problems. i'm not an expert, but the times that my husband went thru detox at the hospital, he was usually in for about 5 days. she was probably going thru withdrawal and they decided to keep her as this can be life threatening depending on how much and how long she has been drinking/drugging. the restraints are for the patient's protection. when detoxing folks tend to become agitated or because they have them on meds to help them thru withdrawal, they sometimes try to get out of bed and can injure themselves.
