Ego Boost

I put on new brake pads on my car yesterday. ALL BY MYSELF!!!

I have worked on my car before but always with help or someone guiding me. This time....I was all by my lonesome, from start to finish and I did it Today I have to check the roters (sp) b/c something still isn't right.

What have you done lately that made you feel good about yourself?

Thank you Thank you!!

You guys are awesome

Elizabeth I would love to be able to find clothes on the 80% off rack that FIT me...lol That's great!!! (ahem...I think I wear I common size)

Chris...Common Down to Cincy....I'll show you what I know (it's really not that much though).

Minx...let me know how hard/messy it is to change your oil. I've not gotten to do that yet. I'm afraid I'll get it all over me...lol

Thank you Savanah!!!

Patty...I have yet to find a diet I can stick to. Good for you for doing. That is awesome!!!

Kathy...Thank you!!!

Tonight I wasn't so lucky though. I had rusted parts. My dad ended coming over to help and did most of it. It was hard for him too. It took 3 hours just to get the rear passenger side done. Tomorrow, I'm going to try the rear driver's side by myself. Wish me luck. At least now I know some more tricks to make it easier on myself.

Sweetie, you are a star. Never before would I have thought to tackle a job like that, but youhave put the thought in my mind now. My brake pads need doing - but it's pouring down with rain here today. (Any excuse)

Every little (and BIG!!) thing we do for ourselves is another step further in our recovery.

Way to go! My headlight bulb went out and I had to go to my Dad's last night to have him put it in for me.

Minnie....it is so easy. I had disc brakes and I was told those were the easiest ones to change.

Cloudy...I remember when I put my first license plate on....huge accomplishment. I was so proud of myself. I'm proud of you too!!!

Patty...Those little accomplishments is what gave me the confidence to takle these bigger jobs. I remember when I put my kids swingset together...I loved bragging about it...I still do and I brag about changing my tie rod ends and now I can brag about my brake pads. I even shocked my AH. (No, he didn't offer to help.) Believe me...If I can do it, ANYONE can.

brdlvr2 - I have yet to do that. Luckily I've had someone around when I needed to change my bulbs that would do it for me.

Maybe I should write a book....Mechanics for Women...lol Someone's probably thought of that though.

My brakes still aren't right. I have to change the pads on one more wheel. But I have bad feeling the Master Cylinder is bad. I just hope they don't go out on me before I get it fixed.
