My boring daily post!!

I've seen my manager about whether or not I can get a second lot of counselling at work. My boss has suggested that I also see my GP (which I was planning on anyway). If things don't improve or get worse than they are now I reckon I'll go off sick just to look after myself.

D has said he'll eat some porridge today!! - well he hasn't made it yet but the thought this early in the day is a good 'un!

The best news of all is that we both got a good night's sleep last night - the first for around 10 days and I feel like I've spent a day in a Health Spar, I can't believe what a difference sleep makes!

I'm sometimes unsure whether this belongs here but it is Friends and Family and mental health is a big issue in recovery, it also changes so many details for us loved ones I think. I hope it isn't too irrelevent.

Your posts are never boring

Sleep does help - I feel like a new woman today, but the other half didn't come to bed till 5. It'll be nice to be in the same time zone one day!

I think the sleep made me feel like somebody has cuddled my bones!! I wish I could send the feeling to you over the net!!

I've been a good girlie and booked to see a doc - someone new I haven't met before - or at least if I have I can't remember. I need to try and figure out my diary in case they want to sign me off sick! I sort of hope they don't at the moment because it adds another barrier to me changing jobs - new employers ask for the previous years sickness rates and I have nearly 3 weeks already, it'd be another padlock on my ball and chain to this place. Perhaps I should give in and accept the things I cannot change like being stuck in this isolation tank office until I retire!!

Im so glad to hear you got some better sleep! It does make all the difference for me.
Do you have the opportunity to take any extended leave due to family sickness? We have the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) here in the states and it basically states that after a certain amount of tenure, an employee has the right to take extended leave to take care of a sicked familiy member without the risk of losing their job. That is if you DONT want to lose your job

Just a thought!

Who ya gonna poke Susane?? *hides behind sofa*

Today is DEFINATELY looking up! They let me go home after the docs so I'm here early. D is in the best mood he's been in for days, much less pain too and he did eat some porridge!

The docs have said they will sign me off whenever I want so it's up to me, which is better becuase I can decide for myself if it's worth it.

We do have Urgent Domestic Business and Compassionate Leave but they are both complex systems and only have a limited number of days as paid leave. Because I'm the only one earning I cannot go unpaid and need to keep what's left of the other in case of unexpected emergancies.

The sleep did me so much good I started the day off feeling better, I had a better frame of mind. I said to D that we have each other and reminded him of what our first APAS counsellor said that 'The sum of us is greater than it parts' (Gestalt). I said we need to remember that when we're low on our reserves, to come together and pull on together. It felt right and it might be just coincidence but we've both had the best day in the last 2 weeks!

I did ask the doc about AD's but she felt it wasn't appropriate, she knows what's happening with D and said she didn't feel I should increase the dose when she doesn't think my response is ill - she actually said she thought I had incredible stamina!! (How's zat for validation!?). I nearly couldn't get me head through the door on the way out!!

Last of all instead of breaking any confidences I sent a note to D's doc. I've put in the note that his childhood doc will have a lot of info and other stuff like there being no point asking D how he is - that it's better to ask how things are going, if he's looking for work, has he been socialising etc - ie specific questions rather than D's opinion. Then he can ask why and get more info.

I've told him he hasn't got all the pieces to the puzzle yet but he might be able to get enough to know what questions to ask.

Can't quite put my finger on why but saying I had balls would sound better...

I do feel better about myself - I'm happier giving his doc information on how to get information from D and his med notes than I am passing on things told to me privately or my opinion about D.

Sort of giving him tools to help rather than stepping in with answers. I felt as though if I thought about it long enough I'd come to an answer and this does feel right.

Okay - gonna stop blowing me own trumpet now - look what you've started..... eeeeeeep!!!

Things still seems a little brighter at home - I'm begining to hope the last couple of weeks were perhaps partly a virus. Either way right now is better so I'm grateful.
