Hi Wayne,

I can't offer much info but I know the Salvation Army offers free programs in most cities in North America. Hopefully someone will be along to give you better advice.

Welcome!

I think wayne meant he is worried they will have him standing outside stores collecting $. Everyone associates the salvation army with a guy standing outside the mall ringing a bell. I hope he comes back! I sent him a PM letting him know, we might have missunderstood what he was saying.

Thats just a small part of the salvation army. Thats like not taking an office job with the Dallas Cowboys because you're afraid they'll put you in at Offensive Guard.

The salvation army collects for charities but ALSO helps alcoholics. The two dont have anything to do with eachother.

what I was trying to convey was, you can go and get detox and rehab for free in most states. They are FUNDED by the state. Thats what I did. I spent 90 days in in-patient treatment and 3 months of intensive out-patient AND 12 weeks of one-on-one therapy twice a week......ALL FREE. Have you even bothered to look INTO it???? I figured I could NEVER get help because I couldnt afford it. Then I looked into state funded programs and low-and-behold whadd-a-ya know??? So if you stop making excuses and just do the legwork, you will find there are lots of avenues open to addicts. Most addicts seeking help arent in the middle of a financial lucky streak anyways. So why would all the treatment be astronomical? Think about it. Or dont,...just DO it.

By the way,....most people working for the Dallas Cowboys make MORE than a million dollars a year......oh...and Paris Hilton is a dog and nothing more than white trailer trash with money. whew!...there...that feels better.

Hi WayneCo,
Welcome to SR!
I put Bakersfield rehab in google and got quite a bit, there is a Salvation Army there you could call and if they dont have a rehab they might direct you to one.
If you look in the yellow pages you might find the central # to call for the state funded programs in your area.
If you call a few of the local places that "charge alot" you will usually find some kind person who answers the phone who will direct you to a low/no cost program if you ask.

Here is one phone number to try
Bakersfield Medical and Mental Services
1010 1/2 South Union Avenue
Bakersfield CA 93307
(661) 321-0234
and be sure and give the Salvation Army a call.
Here is the google search link,

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search

Work the phone a bit and I hope you will find what you need,
keep trying its worth it
