new to forum - lost my girl - over drinking
Welcome to SR. You can get clean. Just stay close to the board, do a lot of reading, and take the necessary steps to get clean. Work on you right now and your personal life will fall into place. She will notice what good you are doing for yourself, but she wants to be able to trust you again and see you have time under your belt. Same thing happened to me. I have shifted the focus off her and on to my recovery. She is talking to me again already.
:hello2 and cangratulations on realizing you need to sober up. i wish my ex had that kind of common sense no matter how many times i hit him with the reality stick he never saw it. so your doing a great job so far...i agree with livenletlive if you sit back and read whats going on here youll get the idea and the encouragement you need. just keep posting and let us know how your doing...
the desire to be clean is all you need to get started...
now.. time to go to work.. ;o)
the disease of addiction flourishes in isolation...
so.. the more you reach out.. the better chance one has...
so yeah.. stay close.. and start up the path of a better more manageable life...

Welcome to SR CB. Congrats on realizing you need help and are reaching out for it. It's here and it is awesome. There is TONS of information we give each other throught he message boards, links ect that you could look through at your leisure. This will help you dramatically.
Drink lots of water, decaffinated drinks, juice. Eat right but also have something sweet. I bought a bag of hersheys kisses (after chowing down a extra large Milkyway!!!) for my sweet tooth. Your body will crave the sugar you're no longer getting from the alcohol. I found 1 kiss was just as good as that huge milkway and a ton less calories.
I hope that will help you some. Good luck. It has been 3 weeks today for me. Not a single drink and I can tell you this: I am HAPPY about it! LOL I am glad that I quit.

Hi...you're on the right path by looking for help. If you're not going to AA or NA...GO.
If you can still reach out to your loved one explain what you're doing to get well and ask please if Alanon is a possibility for your loved one. Both of you will be helped. You by getting well...your loved one by getting to understand what you're doing and to understand this disease. Good luck
God bless.

Thanks for signing on and realizing that there might be a problem. Please realize trhat you might not get your girl back, but you can become a better you if drinking has made your life unmanageable. Most of us consider that we had to want to get better for ourselves, not our wives, jobs, kids, etc. If you want serenity in life it's here for the asking.

So glad you are getting sober too. There is so much more to life than drugs and alcohol. Get "high" on God and vitamins. haha. Things will turn around for you just have a little faith. This is my first reply, I just joined too. Best of luck to you!!! Jen
