I'll take that token...
SIX MONTHS, that is!
I've been around AA for three years, relapsing in and out. FINALLY got six months this week. How did I do it?
I finally took the cotton out of my ears and put it in my mouth.
I followed suggestions made to me.
Went to two meetings a day for most of this time.
Joined a small tight mens workshop for 12/12
Actually called my sponsor daily to check in.
Called even more when conditions merited.
Made friends in the program
Did social activities with those people
Learned to love again
Made the decision to live
Worked the steps, not merely read them (I'm doing 7 tonight)
Prayed daily
Turned life over to HP
Took vacation
Read the AA literature with others slowly and discussed it as we went.
Logged onto SR and tried to help others.
IT DOES WORK IF YOU WORK IT. they are not kidding.

Well, we are good friends. It's called THE BAND! I'm the Roadie.
And most of us are in pretty good shape. Maybe we're too tight though, they won't even let me date anyone! They say I'm not ready yet....
But hey, that was posted in the middle of the night, sorry for the , ahem, strange wording... LOL

Congrats on 6 months and thanks for sharing what worked for you, keep workin' it!
PS Used to love a Jackson Brown song that talked about Roadies, guess the lyric works here at SR too, "People stay, just a little bit longer..."

I've gotten three tokens so far! Even though I tell people 'I've already got one', it's so cool that they are so happy for me that there are presentations anyway. One of my best buddies in AA gave me one at a meeting, my sponsor gave me one, and the guys at my workshop insisted on another last night. It's such a good feeling to have people caring about me after so many years of being alone. And thanks to all of you at SR for the support and kind words.. It does mean a lot.
