I've accepted the job that I didn't really want

I was offered the job that I posted about a few weeks ago. I've been putting out resumes' left and right, and have gotten a few more interviews, but not the jobs I wanted. So, I guess I'm left with no choice but to take this job, as I need the money very badly.

I can look for another job while working at this one, but I know I will be to tired everyday trying to adjust to this one to make the effort. I'm lucky to have gotten this job since it's 40 hours a week, and at least know it won't be odd shifts and hours like the last job I had.

I asked my HP for guidance, and for some reason I feel I was lead back to this job, who knows why.

I'm having so much anxiety about working the normal 8-5 hours. Over the last few years, I've really became a "night" person. I don't know how to get my schedule back to getting to bed earlier and getting up earlier. Getting up early is going to kill me!!

I just feel a little disappointed that I'm taking this job, since it wasn't my first choice. I just hope I'm doing the right thing.

Hi Savana... I was just thinking about you....
Look at as a way to pay bills and feel productive for now...
Keep you eyes pealed for other opportunities,
remember we are always more "marketable" when we
are currently employed...Chin up everything will work out!
Love, Patty

Thanks Patty!

Any ideas on how I can continue going to my counseling sessions? I don't think my Counselor is in during the lunch hour, and most of that time will be spent going home and letting my dog out.

Bread and butter jobs.

Thats what they call it in AA....get a job, for today, that will supply you with bread and butter, so you can eat.

Its just the job for today..not forever. Your doing the next right thing. And thats what God wants...the rewards do come from doing his will. You;ll see.....

Perhaps your HP led you there to help you gain a skill for the next better job?

Over the years I've worked all kinds of jobs. Some were great, some downright sucked. But I learned from each.

Congrats on 40 hours! Full time employment rocks!

It was hard when I had to switch to a 8 - 5 schedule, but you will adjust. They say it takes 21 days to establish a habit, and I think that was about right for me. And you are right...you can keep looking while you are there. So congrats on the "now" job!

Your counselor should have after 5 pm sessions..just ask..

Congrats on the new job..

It's ok to take a job for money..I'm sure we have all done it..You may want to structure some time at night to work on your job search..Don't know if you have internet access at home but the library always works for me..

Is your boss flexible enough so if you skip your lunch hour (work through) or if you come in 1/2 hour earlier you can leave early?

Don't give up..I'm sure there are solutions..

Hi Savana,

Congrats on the new job!!! You may like it or the people that you work with. Try to find the positive in it and like FOB said, just work knowing that you won't have to be there forever, but for today, you can pay your bills.

Can you see your therapist once or twice a month? If so, ask your new supervisor if you can leave a 1/2 hour early on just that one or two days a month.

Good for you!! Keep goin'....

((hugs))

Thank you for the ideas, Minx and GF. I tend to immediately think the world is coming to an end if I can't figure something out RIGHT AWAY!

I'm so thankful for this board and all of the people, as I wouldn't have even thought of trying to leave work a half hour early to make it to my appt.

Another thought. in case you can't get off a bit early, how about going more nights to Al-Anon and an open AA meeting maybe once a week. ??
Just a thought.
I noticed with me, if I disliked something at first glance, I ended up happy with it.
(That was people, work, meetings etc.)
Then, if I at first thought wonderful, that is whene did not turn out well.
Does that happen to others??
Best of luck gal. You will adjust.
