Well, I accepted the new job!
The offer was too good to pass up and the job is tailor-made for my skills.
It's a lovely office by the beach, I know many of the other employees, I'll make more money and be back in the world.
Earlier someone mentioned the problems within the debt-collection industry and we spoke extensively about it. Much good news on that front. He does not telemarket-no no-call list to hassle with. The office is fully licensed. (each state etc). All customers come by referral from attorneys...the customer has debt but not enough to really file a BK, better to settle and pay than file, particularly with the new BK laws going into effect.
The hard part will be resigning. My current employer's main corporate office is being evacuated tomorrow due to Rita, so it may be Monday before I can actually do it.

I'm so glad you took the job!! I kept kicking myself for not replying to the last thread but all I wanted to say was NEW CHEESE!! What I really liked was that the new employer had struck you as being very honourable - that may be an old fashioned word but I think it's one of the most important attributes for anyone worth being around.
I know it will be really rough to hand in your notice but they'll cope somehow and you have new cheese to chow down on!
