I haven't watched this show - I'm curious, but not enough to risk the emotions that it might trigger, especially tonight, since my A is a recovering heroin addict...
I think I'll pay attention to this thread, though, maybe you'll give me the details?

Oh, man! My heart broke for Rachel and her family. I have never known or have seen a heroin addict before. Like all addictions, it's scary.
Rachel was so into it, though. "Dropping off" in the middle of conversations, being tired all the time and wanting to sleep. Her mom giving her $ to go out and buy the drug so that Rachel could come home and not go through withdrawals. Or, have to prostitute for it.
Tommy did well. He recovered, but he lost everything he had to get there. Which is usually the case.
Rachel relapsed after 109 days and is back out there on the streets.
I really like this show. I learn immensely from it every time I watch it. From both sides........the addict's perception and the family/friend's. And, from the counselors that organize the interventions. If you haven't watched it, yet......DO! I hope they keep it on for a long time.

Yes, I agree Rachel's story was very sad, as was Tommys'. But it's great that they both agreed to go to Rehab.
When Rachel's Dad was trying to read his letter to her, that he wrote, I started crying. He seemed like such a big guy, so masculine; you could just tell he wasn't the type to cry, but he did.
