Panic

I have been put in touch with the community psychiatric nurse because these days i have become increasingly nervous and distressed as the family "do" approaches (wedding of sister, dinner/dancing) and party for 200 people the day after as well. I explained to the CPN that i become obsessed with decision making and the only answer my head gives me is "you are damned if you do go and you are damned if you don't go", feelings of guilt/fear all tumbled into one and i am on medication for depression. I just wanted to share with you guy's the deepest of my feelings at present which is very much adrenelin pumping now. Be kind to yourself.

Hi Jo,

I'm sure the wedding is bringing out lots of emotions but I hope you enjoy yourself.

200 guests is a pretty good sized reception.

Lotsa hugs, Jo.

Go to the do. Tell yourself you're going to be all right and have a good time.

I was surprised, in early sobriety, how few people at "do's" were really drunk. How nice of them to sober up and behave themselves just to help me! It was and is really easy to find a table of people who are drinking very little or not at all. It isn't always the case, but leave early if you have to. Those who don't understand why, never will.

Look for an AA book titled "Living Sober." Lots of help there for what you're worrying about.

I've been sober over 16 years. Remember, i'm pulling for you. We're all in this together.
