Hello, there...just new here
Hello,
I'm 19 and stumbled into here while looking for a non-religious alternative to al-anon. I didn't find anything, but this forum looks like a good place to get a least some help and direction. It's also a very welcoming place.
In my situation, I feel like I'm the only sober person among the people I know or at least the only person who sees the problems of alcoholism. My mother (who was an alcoholic) was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, but still refuses to believe that 20+ years of smoking cigarettes and alcohol abuse could've been a major factor. I also had a friend who lost her arm in a drunk driving accident and (to my knowledge) still engages in drinking alcohol and/or smoking pot. There are many more cases, but those have been most severe.
I school a little bit and I work. I'm also an artist and I play music in a rock band (these two things I'm incredibly forntunate to have). I still don't get out of the house as much as I would like to but...I try.
Thanks for listening.
