Just another newbee

I am a newcomer to this site and have perused posts for about an hour now. I believe that encouragement and support from members of this site may increase my chances of gaining and maintaining sobriety. I hope to meet new people (sober people) and pull my act together. Perhaps talking with those who have remained sober for a while will be enlightening. I tried AA about seven years ago, stayed sober for six months, and then blew it. I am rather uneasy about returning to AA ( I don't know why, maybe emarrasment, I'm not sure) but I'll do anything to pull both my emotional and physical aspects back into some semblence of order. I am going to need the help of others to do this. Okay, I'm off the soapbox now, just wanted to say howdy.

Welcome Pheonix!!!
I know that feeling of embarrassment, guilt and shame...but trust me, AA will welcome you back with open arms!!!
If you truly are willing to go to any length..you'll go back to meetings
You've found a great place for support, keep coming back, yes we need you!!!
One day at a time.

Welcome

and Hello!

Gosh! I was an AA relapse queen for years! Took me 5 years to earn a 1 year medallion. Never once did any AA member poke fun at me or make me fee awkward.

As most AA groups are fluid chances are members will not remember you anyway.

So obviously.. I am suggesting a return to AA.

Great to see you seeking sovriety..

Congrats on choosing life! Try a different AA meeting than the one you last attended if you are uncomfortable. But, I agree with what has been said previously--you are welcome in the rooms of AA--they'll be glad to see you. Take the time to look over what you didn't do the first time you tried getting sober for that six months. Did you go regularly to meetings? Read the Big Book? Get A Sponsor? Work steps? Honesty, Openmindedness, Willingness--that's the ticket to get you on your way. Blessings, Queenshenique

Howdy Phoenix,
Glad your here. this is a good place to be, there are alot of really good people on this site. I would definately suggest going back to aa, they will never look down on you and as long as your willing to not drink today, they will welcome you back with open arms. i go to unity in grapevine and i really like it alot. anyway, glad to have you .

Hi Mo
Welcome Aboard... this place has been one of my best tools in getting and staying sober.
AA has been my other big tool... I always thought I could do eveything myself, including getting sober... that kind of thinking almost killed me.
The fellowship of AA will welcome you back with open arms... we are simply one drunk helping another.

Well, I guess it's back to AA then. Anyone who was there seven years ago would't recognize me anyway. There has got to be a half an inch of dust on my big book!
