Newcomer and going downhill fast
Hello, I am new to this site and 1st time to reach for any type of help.
In the past 3 years My hubby and I are close to being out of control. We are in trouble w/ alcohol coke and cigs. Somehow I have managed to lose my voice in the past 4 days. We have young kids and I am ready to quit this ****, want to be a great mom. Need advice on best way to navigate this site and mostly where do I start?

Hello and welcome to SoberRecovery.Im glad your here.As far as navigating around the site its pretty easy.Myself,I usaully just click new posts and start reading and posting.I will also visit NA,AA,and the Mens room. There are some really good people here with anywhere from one day to multiple years clean and sober.Stick around. You can find plenty of support around here. Also,I would suggest you and your husband checking out some AA or NA mmetings.

Welcome... I am also new to this site and yes it is helpful but I find going to NA & AA meetings are a lot better. I am not big on drinking but I def. know what you are going through as far as the coke situation and cigs. I have friends who love to drink when they are high on coke and drink a whole lot more when they are coked up and we all know one line is never enough. From my personal experience I'd hold off on trying to stop smoking cigs...one step at a time...haha trust me you will def. need a cig if your stopping all the other things. Find an NA or AA meeting in your area it will really help even if you just go to listen. I have heard stories of people getting so caught up in their addiction that they have lost their kids and home and everything that they worked hard to get. It's great that you realize you have a problem or an addiction before things really get out of control.

Welcome, You are among friends. You will find addicts and family members of addict here. All have something to share and I have learned from everyone. Even if it was just a person who understood what I was going through. Most have had some experiences that I have learned from.
Check out the online meetings. they are great. The schedule is on the newcomers board. Read alot and ask any and all questions. I would strongly suggest face to face meetings like tyler said. You should also probably see a doctor. He can help with detox.
You are taking such a big and strong step by just coming here. I know that it isnt easy. You will be a great mom for your babies. Keep coming back and keep looking for help. You will find it. God will give it to you. You just have to keep looking.
Thanks
Jeff

I believe I came here last November and I used this SR for hours and hours a day. And I sobered up pretty quickly. I just got off the wagon and the 1st thing I am doing is coming back because I know SR helps so much.

I have been there with the drinking and the coke, and I do smoke cigs. I also used with my husband and at the time my kids were 4 and 6. I am going on 13 years now. You have already started the first step and that is admitting that you have a problem and asking for help. I would suggest going to meetings and getting a sponsor. I tried everything else and nothing worked but the meetings and a tough sponsor. The web site is a good back up. Please do understand that it would also help if you and your husband go to some meetings together and also go to some separate. Me and my husband tried to do recovery together. It worked for a while. I had a sponsor try telling me to have my own recovery also that was separate from my husband. At that time I would not listen to her.... I had to learn this the hard way. Use the phone as much as possible. If one goes back out it does not mean the other one has to. I am living proof of that. Get as much support in the rooms as possible....
p.s. Don't even worry about the cigs right now...
My prayers are with you

I forgot. You can click on peoples names and send private messages if you want.
It is like sending email but quicker. If they are online, they get it right away. It helps to ask questions.
Thanks
