Drinking for 20 years
Drinking for 20 years
Hi, I am 37 yrs old and have overdrank for 20-23 yrs. The last for to five yrs of my drinking I noticed that when hungover I would have occassional muscle spasms and fingers twitching as well as a few times my hand would close up and make a fist by itself along with arm and hand tingling. I never experienced that prior.
My first question is what do those symptoms above mean?
Secondly, will my body heal back to normal. Liver, heart, nervous system?
Lastly, how long does it usually take for the romantic thoughts of drinking go away? I know drinking causes troubles with my husband as well as hangovers etc etc. If there are no positives and mostly negatives than why isn't it easier to just stop? In the past 15 yrs I could go 8 days and that is it so I am looking forward to my new life without alcohol. I'm sick of being sick and constantly thinking about if I'm gonna drink or if Im not this week or whatever. But at this point my desire to be sober out weighs the desire to be intoxicated.
I don't want to feel buzzed or be drunk ever again.
Thanks for answering my questions.

it's "One Day At a Time"
so getting away from "never drinking ever again" helps
now that you are not drinking, go for a physical with gp
it takes time to regain health, sleep patterns, diet, exercise, motivation
and, of course, make m,eetimgs, meetings, meetings,
get a sponsor, big book, telephone calls, and work the steps
best
