I think it is a fair depiction of codependency.
It's more about our feelings than theirs.
I was in chorus and orchestra during HS, and we performed this play. This song, at the time, was SOOOOO meaningful to me. It WAS what LOVE was to me. Then.
I was wrong.
I didn't know what love was. At all. I loved the idea of being in love. And perhaps the pathos of being in a tormented love.
Of course, I didn't understand any of this at the time. I'm beginning to. Three decades later....It's never too late.
This is really interesting to me. I never recognized this until recently, during a family sing along. yea, we - my family of origen - really dohave sing alongs. My brothers both play guitars; my other brother drums; my BIL the keyboard. They have all been professional musicians. During different family occasions we sing together. I love it.
It was during one of these sing alongs that I sang this song for the first time since HS. What a different perspective I had!!! LOL!
Today, I know that is not love. I know, because I came too close to the end, and so did my son, because of these false ideas of love.

this is why i can't stand to listen to the radio anymore, unless it is music without vocals. i was raised on songs of co-dependence. it's funny that the latest music (hard rock) sounds like a bunch of whining sprinkled with songs about hate.

Escape...prior to my husband rehab, we listened to country. After that, I started noticing that they were all about boozing, broads and broken hearts. Damn... haven't listened to it since.
