My Son
Hi Im the mother of a drug and alcohol addicted son he is on his fourth day of
rehab. I have so many mixed feelings Im elated hes in rehab
but Im also angered that he is so addicted there are many generations of alcoholics in my family so the chances of his being addicted are very high. I need all the support I can get. Im trying to understand this horrible disease of alcoholism but its tough because I never became addicted any support and advice would be much appreciated.

First of all, welcome. There are lots of people here and we all have something in common, we either love or have loved someone who is an alcoholic.
Learn all you can. Read. Attend meetings. Knowledge really is power.
People here do understand. You can ask questions, post your feelings, and hear a lot of opinions, hopefully some you will find beneficial.
It's important that you take care of yourself. Be kind to yourself and know you're among friends.

I'm the Mom of two sons, one in jail and one out
here drinking himself to death. They come from
a long line of addiction also.
Read the sticky's at the top and I really love
the book Codependent No More (which I should be
reading at the moment) because I've been pretty
angry lately also. Language of Letting Go is
a excellent book also. (Which I should be reading).
There are alot of Mom's on the Naranon board so
come on over there as well.
