Is post accute withdraw real?

Hi ,
I'm two years clean 03-07-05.
I have worked 3-9 practice 10-12 daily i have a good conection with God.
I have a sponsor, who says that post accute withdraw can reacurr intermitantly for up to one year for every 10 years you used.
in my case I used for close to thirty years so that would be intermitant P.A.W.S. for up to 3 yrs according to his formula. Drugs o/choice were mostly THC early in life very, some cocain, some alcohol, then only THC,
then crack for three years straight, bottom and rehab. then I did experience definate Post accute withdraw syptoms ,which included sweaty palms, knot inthe stomack, strong using urges, dreams, depression, hopelessness, fear, at my 30,60,90,six month, eiighteen month birthdays and most of this week at two years clean I have been moody depressed sometimes hopeless self pity anger fear. no knots or sweaty palms some dreams moderate urges. symptoms not as bad as previous bithdays , but this time instead going away by the next morrning , these symptoms have been here for two days or three days. still here. I know if I use a person or a drug it will kill me but I want some releif.

Is there any medical proof of this phenomina or is it just known within recovery circles by those who experience it?

My 2 yr. birthday was two days ago and I'm still down, confused depressed angry fearful. Normally I have a peace and serinity that is prety much unshakable.
I hope this goes away soon. It stops while I'm praying , but then i still have to get up and deal with life. I dont want to work or fulfill my responsibilities.

Any medical studies or conclusive evidence or proof other than my own experience. I ask because I was told this would happen so I wonder if it is just in my head or am I imagining it or manufacturing these symptoms.

Thanks for any help

From the Gorski & Miller website (they wrote Staying Sober in 1986 - a textbook used by many rehabs that talks about PAW).

http://www.tgorski.com/articles/gors...ble_010508.htm

It is at least a good place to start - and I think further research on the site would be useful as well.
