Prayers Needed

Hey Team,

Been a long while since I posted here. For the most part things have been rocking along nicely. I checked my calendar at work today and noticed I celebrated 240 days sober over the weekend.

However, I started having back pain in October. Dr diagnosed it as sciatica and gave me excercises, steroids and a round of Ultram. I suffered off and on until the new year and ended up in the ER for severe back pain as I could not walk. Went back to my Dr and basically raised a little Hell until he ran more tests (sometimes Doc's just cant see past the simple diagnosis) Anyway, he finally ran a CT scan and discovered last week I have a herniated disc at L5-S1 that is pressing on the S1 nerve root.

I go to see a neuro-surgeon Thurs. I am not sure if I will have to have surgery but from what I have read, it appears that if it will heal on its own it will do so within 6 weeks. So far all it has done is get worse.

I am trying to be very cautious about pain management. I have a script for Darvocet and Soma but try and only take it when I need it. The rest of the time I eat advil.

Anyway, if you could all toss me in your prayer list that whatever happens I can handle it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again team and know that alothough I dont post much, I check in daily and keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for you Triegger, definitely. Sometimes we have to take care of our pain and it sounds like you're doing everything right. I hope you recover without surgery.

Love, Anna

Hey Team,

Thanks for all your support. I go to see the Neuro-Surgeon tomorrow afternoon. I am really nervous as I am not sure what to expect and I am in tremendous pain.

I will let you all know what I find out.

Thanks again,

Triegger

Hey Team,

Just a quick update: Saw the Doc last week but had to have an MRI Friday as he said it was hard to tell on the CT scan what was going on. Went back today and I have definitely ruptured a disc. Looks like I will be having suregery in the next week or so as soon as they can get it scheduled.

The surgery he is doing is Micro-surgery where the go in and remove some material that is pressing on the nerve root (discectomy I think is what it is called) From what the Doc told me it is outpatient surgery and I should come home the same day and should only be out of work a couple of weeks. Have any of you had this procedure done? Would just kinda like to know what to expect.

Thanks for all your prayers and support.

Triegger

p.s. Still sober :hoo
