Thumbs down How to cope?

Hi,

I am on day 12 after detox from valium and alcohol, and was diond pretty well until today, I am very anxious, sweaty pals, and an empty feeling in my chest. I am going to an NA meeting in 1 and 1/2 hours and have tried breathing, walking my dog, reading the NA book, and I cant shake the feeling. I remember feeling like this before but this is my first time doing NA as well. I wish I never forgeot how this feels b/c I never would have started using again.

It may just be your system re-adjusting still ,Try to drink a lot of gatorade to equilize the re-hydration of fluids, this help me out on the Vic-alcohol stand down,
if these symtoms continue you might see a doctor.

WANT2BCLEAN

Hang in there it will get better with each day. For right now focus on today, don't look to far ahead right now. Remember that you have overcome the hardest battle and that is you want to quit using. Attend NA meetings frequently find a sponser soon, and if that does'nt happen that is ok too, because attending meetings and sharing will open yourself up to others, and a sponser migh find you. Don't hibernate that is self desrtuctive for us addicts. God bless

this is strength and courage!!!!!
motivation: thinking about cleaning up and moving through the haze and fog to a better life. Action: going to detox, taking each of those days one minute at a time, going to a meeting, and posting here how your feeling !!!!!
Keep it up, you're really doing a heroic job. Please stay with us and yes so true, never forget how this feels!!!!! Don't forget to drink lots of water! detoxing takes along time butkeep working at it, your doing great!!!!

want2Bclean,

12 days is great. I am starting day six and hope I can make it to day 12 one day at a time. You give me hope that maybe I can do this too.
