Unhappy Today is the first day

The longest I have gone without drinking was 45 days - just recently too. But in the last two weeks I have gone overboard twice. I'm okay if I don't have that first drink - but once I do it's all over. I have made an appointment to see a counselor but that is not until the 8th of February and I need help getting to that point. Any advice for a newbie????

First of all, I would like to welcome you to SR. This is a great place to come for information and support. Have you ever been to an aa meeting? I know they help me a bunch. I, like you, cannot have just one. I always drank excessively. That was until I reached out for help. One day at a time, I will be celebrating 9 months soon. I never would have believed it 9 months ago. Stick around, read some posts, get to know us.

Sherry

Thank you for the supportive words. I am going to my first AA meeting tomorrow. That's something I am going to do in conjunction with the counseling. I have to STOP - period.

Welcome Northwoods Lady!
You've found a support community that has no online equal.
It sounds like you have things in motion. A meeting and some counseling.
Change occurs when we take action.
Glad you're here.
