Any good books?
Any good books?
I was just wondering if anyone has read any good books on recovery from alcohol abuse/addiction. I have the big book, but I would like another one on top of that because I've read the big one so many times, lol. Maybe something a litte inspiring??

Here's one!
Hello, youngirish!
I've just finished the most AMAZING book! It's called Drinking--A Love Story, by Caroline Knapp. I have a library copy now, but I think I'm going to go buy my own, I like it so well. The author's description of her own personal experience as an alcoholic just blows me away--I swear she must have been inside my own brain! It's really given me lots of insight into why I am the way I am, and how to work on really living, and conquering this demon addiction. It is SO inspiring. I'm glad to have picked this for my very first "recovery book"!
(There's another thread around here somewhere where this book was suggested, along with several others. I'll try to find it and aim you over there...)
All the best,
Cara
PS. That thread is called, "Day 4 done - made it through a weekend" and it's on the Alcoholism board.

I was just given "Drinking-A Love Story" by a soccer teammate of mine, whom I just discovered is experiencing the same stuff I am right now. I'm only on chapter 3 so far. I do really like it though and I can relate to so much of it already. I can't wait to read more.
Man, I'm so thankful to be having these people come into my life. I'd have to say that JC got me thinking that I may have a problem. It brought me to some realization of this when I heard of her telling of her experience to another teammate when 3 of us went to lunch one day. I was relieved to see that there was someone my own age who had struggled with all the drinking stuff.
