Help! I think I'm going to rehab

Well, I was having a rough day since I woke up this morning, and it was a gradual buildup of severe anxiety and psychological withdrawal. I had a breakdown about an hour ago--bawling hysterically because I couldn't stop thinking about alcohol for a minute. I even went to a meeting tonight and it didn't help. God, I'm scared. I really didn't want it to have to come down to this. It's terrifying. I hate hospitals. I am phobic of anything to do with them. Oh God.

First.....breathe.

I don't think you are meant to be scared to get help. That's just your inner child having a tantrum.

Try taking a hot shower, do the grooming things you usually do, get in your pj's and cuddle with your pillow tonight. Don't expect too much.......just go to sleep when you can.

Tomorrow is another day. If you find rehab will work for you.......call them! Find out what it is all about.

So many of us have been where you are now and we lived to tell the tale.

It will be ok......just one minute, one hour, one day at a time, sweetie. ****{hugs}}}

Read your quote, love. (Phil. 4:13 one of my fav.) It doesn't say "I can do SOME things", it says "ALL things". Gen 26:24- "Fear not for I am with you". Also, 1 John 4:4- "For He who is in you, is greater than he who is in the world". I reapeat these when I am afraid.
Most people who go to rehabs, don't want to leave once they get there. Talk to people who have been there.
Sometimes things look scarier than they really are. I'll be praying.

lilalkie,

Hang in there friend. I like what free to love had to say. Your quote is one of my favorite verses and has gotten me through some really tough times. Pray, and pray some more. I've done rehab, as many others here have, also. It was a good foundation to my recovery. I learned a lot about my disease and some of the tools to use to fight it. It also got me connected to aa. Keep us posted, I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers!

(((Lilalkie))) you are in my prayers. Rough days are bound to happen, just hang in there. Pray for the answer to come to you and have faith that you'll hear it. I'm thinking of you.

Red face

Hey Lilalkie--From someone who has been there, rehab SAVED MY LIFE!!!! It was a little scary at first, but once I got going, it was the best thing I could have done. I was afraid to leave when it was over. Do not fret--if rehab is where you belong, you will know and it will be okay.

Hugs--

Well, here's the situation as it stands. Last night, my husband called a hotline and they gave him a couple of rehab centers to call. He checked with his insurance company today, and they will cover rehab, but there's a limited number of places I can go and I have to have a doctor's referral. So, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at one, and I will know by tomorrow night whether or not I'm going to rehab.
As scared and unsure as I am, I think I really need it. My emotional problems run very very deep, and I think that even with AA, I can't get sober on my own. I need help.

Thank you all so much for your concern and prayers. I will let you know tomorrow what's going on. Thanks!
