I felt like finding a meeting and wasn't sure how it's working these days... and I found a great place!

The meetings are on Zoom, so you'll have to download the app - but other than that it's just clicking on a link. They have meetings almost every hour, and even when they don't many people are still on. It's perfect for those of us with anxiety issues, and for all of us who may need a meeting asap..... you're literally always a minute from a meeting!

Especially for those really new, this can be really helpful! I've been taking advantage of it a lot lately, it's been a great way to focus on my sobriety.

I only discovered these last weekend and if I had known then I probably would not have relapsed at the end of June after 18 months of peace and sobriety. There is a 24 hour non stop world wide meeting that I just join without video and sit and listen. It helps me so much at times. Zoom ID: 2923712604

What would be better local AA meetings or anywhere in the world they are online anyway.

i do like the idea of a local one because I could probably get contact details from people to reach out to if struggling or does it not matter?

I am going to my first one tonight I’ve been putting it off for years but after a 7 day bender spending all my money ruining a good gym run that I had going I’m just giving into it and going.

Just ask in the chat that you need help or numbers or if you share just ask then. They will contact you.
If you go to the world wide one they have a network where they can put you in contact with people local to you, just ask in chat there too.
I too would prefer local but the 24 hour one is there all the time which is massive rather than a local one which might be days away.

I am not familiar with zoom. Can I join anonymously?? It’s asking for a log in! 😬

Yes it is totally anonymous (its AA after all), you just start the app if you are on a phone (or click the icon on a laptop or whatever) and put in the meeting ID. You are asked for a name but that can be anything and is basically just an ID for the meeting so you can refered to if you want to share. Video is optional and you dont have to speak. I just listen, for now anyway.

Try it. If you want to learn more it there will definitely be ones more local to you. Just ask in the chat. Or google Online AA meetings for your location.
