Celebrating One Month Locked Up

Tomorrow's my first one month sober since I decided to make a pledge to permanent sobriety. Ny first month sober where I wasn't planning to eventually moderate. I'd like to do something to celebrate but I'm in a psych ward.any ideas?

Congratulations on one month of sobriety! 🎉✨🎊
I'm not sure what you're allowed to do on the psych ward so, if nothing else, I suggest treating yourself kindly today. Maybe you could plan a special meal or outing for when you get home.

Just bask in the warm glow of the success FF - you'll be out of the unit soon enough

I love those socks! 😃 Still have some from when I had surgery. I always bring them home with me.

Congratulations on one month sober FF. It's been a very stressful time for you so if you can't think of what to do to celebrate then at least allow yourself some time to feel good about achieving a month of being sober. It is something to feel good about.

One month, that is awesome. Great job! When I got to one month of sobriety, I celebrated by repeating one month to myself continually throughout the day and smiling, both inside and out, while I said it. Keep up the good work!

Hi FF,

You’re well on your way. Congratulations.

I’ve got a few ideas for you.

I love history, so one idea is to spend a few minutes looking up a fellow named Theobald Matthew who was born In 1790 in County Tipperary over by you. He did not have a drinking problem, but, since he became a priest, he was urged to join the temperance society and preach across the land to get more people to take the pledge. By 1845 he had managed to get more than half the population of Ireland to do it, more than 6 million people. (Not all of them kept it, though, they had left off the “and I will never change my mind” part ;-). ( You probably already know about him, though.)

Another idea is, if you have art therapy, make a representation of your pledge.

Or, make something(s) creative for yourself or family member(s) (like your sister) that might stand as a marker in time as to when YOU decided to turn your life around.

GT

Talk to the nurses - they will be delighted to help you celebrate. A card, a cake and fizzy drinks should be possible I would think, even if it means bending the rules a little!

Take care. Forwards.

I celebrated by drawing a picture of a cake in my journal. :/

I'll buy a cake when I get out on Tuesday.

Hey FF. Congrats on the sober time. You’ve been protected by the hospital from drinking so make sure you have your AVRT self talk tuned up before you’re discharged. You said the seizures have occurred while sober so it makes me a bit nervous that the AV Could come back with some kind of ‘it’s ok to drink’ BS.

we don’t drink and we never will.

I was going to suggest quiet contemplation, and journaling FF.

You've started already with a picture of your cake. Did you describe it?

"Ode to a Cake".

Congratulations on one month FF. Hope you are starting to feel better.

Talking to a nurse today, it's not 100% that the doctor will let me out on Tuesday. I'll go insane if I have to spend any longer in the psych ward.

FF, great job on a month of sobriety. I hope you get a chance to talk to your doctor and find out what the plan is.
