Hi, tomorrow will be day one for me. I have been having a hard time staying sober, but not getting sober. Look forward to getting it together. I still need to learn how to navigate this site. I welcome any advice....
Welcome, and yes, staying sober is not as easy as getting sober. But, you can do this. You might need to make a plan that works for you, something you can follow each day/week/month. And, I know for me, I needed to make some lifestlyle changes to support my recovery. I think that staying sober means taking care of yourself physically, mentally and spiritually.
You will find lots of support here.

Welcome to the family BluLotus! My sobriety plan included weekly counseling sessions with my addiction counselor and daily visits here to SR. I no longer see the counselor but come here every day to read and post and offer any help I can.
For me to get and stay sober, I had to want to be sober more than I wanted to drink. The other thing I did to strengthen my sobriety was to practice gratitude every day. That put a very positive spin on my attitude.
I hope we can help you stay sober. It's hard at first, but it gets better, a little at a time. And you've always got us to lean on.

We take each day sober one at a time listening, learning,
absorbing and applying knowledge and lessons about
addiction and a recovery program in all areas of our life.
This new journey in life will have it's ups and downs or
as I refer to them as being growing pains in recovery.
Each one of us begins with the first full day sober and
from there we add a new sober day and so on to have
continuous sobriety.
We use the support of everyone to help us continue on
our own personal journeys building a strong solid recovery
foundation to live our life upon for yrs to come.
As we've heard many times, Rome wasnt built in a day.
neither is our sobriety foundation. We build it one day at
a time making changes along the way. If one brick doesnt
fit, find one that does and secure it properly.
Hold onto your recovery support system and never
stop learning and most of all, no matter how hard
life seems at times, don't pick up that first drink or
drug.
If that happens, we pick up our addiction exactly
where we left off which for many of us wasnt pretty.
Our addiction got us here in the first place, so
why return to that misery. That merry go round
of insanity that comes with addiction.
Addiction is progressive, so abstinence completely
will help you achieve success in your own recovery
life.
