What are you thankful for?
Today is Thanksgiving for me and 65 days sober. I am thankful for no longer:
-waking up and trying to find bottles I hid to have a morning drink
-counting the hours till the liquor store opens
-praying the "tap" feature works at the liquor store cause my hands are too shaky to put in my pin
-wait anxiously for my husband to leave for work so I can have a drink to recover
-pray no one finds my "stash"
-having my kids leave because I'm drunk
-wonder when I fell to get those bruises
-lose days and weeks
-pray the hole I'm in would just swallow me up
-think that I'm the only one who suffers this private HELL.
Thank you to SR. You continue to keep me grounded. What are you thankful for?

I feel that so much. I'm thankful I don't have to hide anymore. I'm thankful to have loved ones who support my sobriety, even if they can't understand my addiction.
And I'm thankful for the small things, like walks on crisp fall days, sending funny memes to brighten a friend's day, and binge-watching Netflix with my husband.

What I go to bed and wake up being grateful for is Billie, my little dog, and Lily, my cat, snuggling with me at bedtime. I am grateful for the feeling of peace and contentment being sober gives me. And a lot of that is my critters' devotion to me. I am so blessed to have these critters to love and care for. It reminds me of having little kids in the house. Able to do quite a bit for themselves, but still utterly devoted to mom.

So much of what all of you said I am also thankful for. I've tried to get into a habit of giving thanks each morning. Even if it's just the gift of waking up and having an opportunity to do your best. There is so much I'm thankful for and not drinking makes all of those things more visible. It's not that I have more to be thankful for, it's that my mind isn't so clouded and poisoned that I can see all that I have.

The 4 noble truths and the 8 fold path.
A unique plan of wellness suited just for little ole me.
Finding happiness with in me and to radiate that joy to others.
