A little bit of both but plan to be sober for good after I get back to my home. I don't have same desire to get drunk it has all been a huge waste. I really dont understand why I drink anymore. Nothing gets accomplished and have no desire after I reach a point to keep going forward. So not moderation but there is no point to keep drinking. I actually hate it cause it takes a lot out of me and see no purpose to it at this point. I used to enjoy it now not so much so

I never enjoy it anymore NewBeginnings. A total waste of time and always harrowing. Hope you decide to pack it in for good.

What's a POP? We had these stupid Alcopops here, designed to hook kids. I think they got banned. Hope so.

Stay safe NB.

I don;t know what a POP is but to be honest it doesn't sound much like a recovery question.

Are you still at your friends place outside the city? I'm sorry the plan of staying sober there didn't pan out.
Hows your mother doing?

Very true, it starts turning into a burden instead of a release. A "have-to" instead of a "want-to" or "get-to". Our bodies start signaling to us that the alcohol good times are over forever. And nothing good comes from ignoring those signals, just continued worsening misery.

I get the old Tootsie Pop commercial reference btw.

I know exactly what you mean and have been there. Hell the last few years of my drinking. I was drinking even though I didn't want to. Luckily I didn't have to know the answer or understand that question to make sobriety stick. I just needed to understand why I didn't drink any more.

Over the years the answer to the question has slowly come to me. Every time a little bit more of the answer comes to me, it precedes a growth period. As long as I trust the process of recovery, I get the right answers at the right times, so that it is a flow, like a river; not a jumbled hodge podge that I can't make heads nor tails of.

There’s a lot more available in this life than drinking alcohol. Glad I realised this 🙏

Just finished watching the show the good place and feel like I am in a bad place. For a show that starts off as a comedy it hits pretty hard!

I watched a few episodes of that show. I didn’t care for it. Sorry you’re in a bad place newbegginning. Maybe try to find a show that is actually a comedy .

The answer to the title of the thread is 3. It takes 3 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop .

You sound like a "licker" expert Gypsy. Do you have a "licker" license? Haha, get it, licker? On an alcohol forum? Haha, oh man, I crack me up. Is this thing on?

I'm missing all sorts of pop culture references I think. The confusion of an old man. How are you newbeginnings? Sober? Doesn't matter. What's going on?

I took the POP to reference the older tootsie pop commercial but after reaching out to my good friend Google, I read it may reference something else..

A licking machine (oh yeah, a licking machine!) developed at Purdue University took an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. At the same institution, 20 individuals conducted the same experiment and averaged 252 licks to complete the task
