hanging in there
hanging in there
I made it through day 10. I am using "I can't drink today because I have this to do tomorrow" as my reason not to drink. I am hoping to keep finding something each day to deal with the cravings. I know I need to focus on today, each day; but I keep looking at what am I going to do long term if I run out of reason for not today. I have been having some sucky withdrawal stuff; and trying to convince myself that I never want to feel like this again, and I don't.
Don't think long term right now. When you get a craving.... stop! breathe deeply, CLEAR YOUR MIND, and focus on the here and now for that moment.
Don't let the weight of imaginary, future cravings weigh you down; don't get overwhelmed or intimidated by some distant challenge that you're not facing right now. Also, remember that those things are going to be easier than you think if you can stay sober. Even if things go wrong, you can roll with the punches when you're clear-headed and feeling fit.
For me, that's what "one day at a time" means. Don't worry about that monster hiding under the bed. It's not real, and even if it were, you can defeat it.

Hey,
You can replace your reason not to drink with this one "Yo. I don't drink."
You can use it every day for the rest of your life! Isn't that super cool?
You've done a lot of hard work to get to day 10. Keep it up! Allow those days to keep accumulating.

Keep stacking up the days, you are doing an excellent job with this.
Can you make a plan to stay sober?
leave the shopping til you feel stronger?
avoid the wine aisle?
go with a friend?
have Sr open on your phone?
remi;d yourself how much you do NOT want to drink anymore?
