Seven years sober
Seven years sober
You'd think that the thrill goes away, but it doesn't. Today, I am celebrating seven years.
Perhaps that's because the more time that goes by, the more you appreciate how precious it is. I can look forward to a life with blank pages waiting to be filled by me, a whole, healthy person. Even just viewing myself as a whole person is a remarkable gift.
Sobriety has allowed me to keep growing. Newest for me is meditation; I continue to be amazed by its impact. Sobriety has built fortifications in my life, a godsend as the past few years have brought painful losses in my family.
I hope those who are newer draw hope from this, the way I did as a newcomer seeing announcements of sober birthdays. You can do this. Give it your all.
Best to everyone. My gratitude to SR is as strong as the early days here. This site changes lives for the better everyday.

Wow! Well done, Venezia 👍
Yes, it certainly gets better! I’m about 5 years behind you, and I protect my sobriety like some precious gem. I’d be devastated now if I were to relapse. Too much to lose.
Sounds like you’ve quite a story to tell.
