Yeah that's the thing about us drinkers Gabe. We cannot stop. But we must, and you definitely can. You've done it so you know you can. I'm sorry you are struggling. We are here for you my friend if you need support.

That sounds like me. On a Thursday afternoon, I might decide to have a pint or two at the pub. Wake up Tuesday morning, beer cans strewn all over my apartment, wondering where the weekend went....

Try again Gabe!

Really rooting for you, Gabe. A relapse doesn't erase the sober time you had. This is not the same as other relapses because now you know more now about what you need to do. You will get there as long as you don't give up...so don't give up!

For me, it was about the decision and acceptance.

I firmly decided I would never drink agin and I would never quit the decision and then I accepted to my soul that I could no longer control my drinking. Those two things made the difference.

And I am stubborn.

You can do this, but you got to want it to your soul.

Easy, no, worth it, absolutely. We are worth it.

All we have is 24 hours in a day. Start with today, not just HOPE. Just DO!

Be well,

Yes - it's as simple as that for me - once it gets in my system I can't stop. Every single time, no exceptions.
You learned something - you're back with new resolve - and you will do this, Gabe.

Sounds like you’re not done yet. Sounds like there’s a part of you that thinks it’s still worth it. Every drink you take is another scoop from your shovel in the hole you’re digging for yourself. You can keep digging or put down the shovel. Either way you’ve got a climb to make to get out, it’s up to you how big of a hole you want to climb out of.

Man, can I relate though. I’ve never understood those people that say I just wanted one drink. I KNOW that when I pick up it is an at least a 4 day thing. Sometimes it’s a week or two. Those 5 day binges are really really hard on our bodies though.

So I ask, are you done yet?

I got through day 1. Spent most of it in bed and I'm in a state really.

I have a lot of thoughts about why I chose to drink and what happened. I also know I need to change things if I am going to make this work.

I'll start tomorrow with sorting the house out.

Thanks so much for everyone checking in. Its much appreciated

Very glad you’re back, Gabe, and got through day 1. My impression is that you achieved a lot during this thread. I’d say now might be a good time to decide to build on that.

Best wishes and looking forward to keep up with you.
