Building our sober muscles this weekend - Weekenders 07-10 August 2020

to the Weekenders

Building our Sober Muscles

Just as we use exercise to keep our bodies in shape, (as inspired by our MidnightBlue), our brains need nurturing to help us put down the drink/drugs and start building the sober muscles.

Sometimes it’s hard to get inspiration...

As in different ways of exercise to suit us all, there are different ways of building our sober muscles that work for each one of us.

Whether it be reading...

Building muscles with others...

And many more ways to suit each of us to keep our sober muscles healthy.

If you’re struggling alone...shout out.....you don’t have to do this alone

Join us this weekend building our sober muscles.

I think this is when someone calls “shotgun”....

on day 10.

This week would’ve been a disaster if I drank and weekenders last weekend helped me launch the week right.

thank you.

Thanks Mags, you’re awesome ❤️
I’m working on my sober muscles every day
I find weekends particularly tricky, especially Sundays when the AV starts yabbering away at me, but coming here and hanging out with all you weekenders helps me build my sober muscles.
Thanks everyone

Congrats on shotgun Beels! And on 10 days too, that’s fantastic

When I was out walking today (my third consecutive day MB!) I saw this kite (maybe a Brahminy kite I think)

Love your opening post Mags. Thanks.

Well done on shotgun BEELS and more importantly 10 days sober!

I have excelled myself this morning, I walked for an hour and a half then when I got home, cut the grass, front and back. And it's only just gone 9 am. Now for my plank, or maybe I mean plonk - on the sofa!

Captain those sober days are building up well. Glad you're not in any imminent danger of being eaten.

Loved the picture you posted yesterday Andy.

Willow well done, you are doing great. Good pic, beautiful sky.

Kaily, I copied your Jack muscle picture and sent it to my sister's family. They have a jack Russell.

Congrats to all celebrating sober time whether it be hours, days, months, or whatever.

In!
Congratulations on shotgun Beels!

Thanks Mags. Sober muscles are great, they mean for example that from time to time you can meet friends or family and not have to worry if they are drinking. They take a bit of work and patience to develop, just like actual muscles come to think of it but as someone tagine says, nothing worthwhile was ever easy.

In as well Mags, thanks!

BEELS, congrats on shotgun. It also took me a while to figure out what it was all about.

Ah, BEELS, you're a quick study with the shotgun. Big congrats on that 10 days. Double digits now till three months are over.

Excellent opening post, Mags. Midnight will be pleased. I love the little brain graphics that you found, very clever.

Willow, that kite is beautiful! I love those huge ocean travelers.

"Jack Muscle." Ha.

It's Thursday morning here, 6:22 AM. I guess I need to get up in the middle of the night to catch you all in here...but I only do that on Monday, oddly. I haven't worked in 14 years, but Monday is when I wake up at 2AM and can't go back to sleep. Brains are weird.

I think I need moar coffee before I can say anything that makes any sense at all. As if I can actually do that caffeinated...

In for a sober weekend with my favorite people on the internet.

I'm IN!

This weekend (well, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) man friend and I are going to the south shore of Lake Superior for hiking and lake-gazing and relaxation. I planned it and told him he was going with me . I found a neat little place to stay - it's a place that has several small cabins instead of being a hotel - but it's not very remote. I had wanted to go to a different place, a VRBO cabin out in the middle of nowhere, on the NORTH shore of the lake, but it's not available when we could both go. My mom stayed there this summer for a few days and I fell in love with the pictures she sent me. Next year I'll def go there. But this is a compromise. Much easier to get to, and not remote, so easier to get to things to do. We will spend a day hiking on an island in the lake one day - it's called Madeline Island. You have to take a ferry to get to it. I have been there several times and it's really beautiful. Here are some pictures of the island:
