Result !

Popped into a supplier who I last visited 4 weeks

“sorry , I did not reconise you , look younger “

Just a little comment can brighten your day ! All thanks to the evil booze being ditched :-)

Good on that supplier to give the compliment! You can bet that for every compliment, there’ll be countless other people who think the same but are too shy to comment.

If that’s the effect after a few weeks, imagine the effects in months or years. I can see people look and stare at me (in a good way 😀 )but most don’t say anything until I mention I’d been cycling or similar. Then the comments come about weight loss, etc.

Sounds like you’re doing well, rainy. Well done 👍

Nothing like moving past the "relationships" I had with liquor store clerks. Sigh. Congrats on putting that part of your life in the rearview mirror.

That is very motivating isn't it rainyengland? 8 months in one of the most satisfying things is when people don't recognize me.

Awesome! Thanks for posting. I once had a customer at my old job tell me I looked puffy and tired. This is when I was at my most active drinking stage years ago. That was the opposite of a compliment but it had the same affect for me. Really making me think about what it is we are doing. Keep it up rainy!

Awesome!! I took a selfie on day 1. 6 months sober now and my gosh...the booze really does cause puffiness.

I wished I’d done that. I just started up an old laptop which happened to have a spreadsheet of my weight, resting heart rate and blood pressure.

My figures from one morning in November 2017:

weight: 108Kg
Heart rate: 76
BP: 170/90 (I think this must have been a one off as that’s massive)

Now, I’m about 89Kg with a resting pulse of 50 and BP around 120/80.

I look so bad in photos from that era, big and puffy!

done same , took a pic everyday from day 1 to day 14 ..it’s staggering how quickly body can recover from the abuse given

day 25 nearly now , feeling good ..AV keeps sticking it’s ugly beak in my business but gets squashed quickly ..I know the harder times are ahead ..last time I caved in at 6 months believing I could moderate ..bad decision as taken 3 years to get to this point again !
