Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day tomorrow to all my Canadian friends. I know this won't be a typical Canada Day, but hopefully you will be able to enjoy some time in the sunshine with a few people you love.

Definitely not a typical summer - but Happy Canada Day to our wonderful neighbors. Three cheers for the True North. Enjoy yourselves however possible!

I had to look that up. So that is the celebration of the start of independence from Britain and the beginning of Canada as it is today? Seems full independence didn't come until recently?

It started as Dominion Day in 1867, representing the union of three of our provinces as "Canada" under the Dominion of the British Empire. Renamed in 1982 to Canada Day, recognizing the independance of our constitution from the British Parliament. More of a symbolic thing.

I went to a small BBQ with ny fiances family today. Offered a beverage sooooo many times and said no just water please. No one even asked why or anything...just moved on. It really is that simple.

Good for you, Anxiousrock. I think we worry so much about what others will think about us not drinking or will they say something, and really, we are usually the only ones who care.

I had a great walk with a stop to relax in the shade. All in all, a great day.
