A sober life recovered from alcoholism is possible and indeed is the promise of Alcoholics Anonymous. Many have done it on SR without AA or with AA. The key is an absolute willingness to do whatever it takes to stay sober and rigorous honesty with yourself and an open-mind. Whatever happens stay sober today and you’ll never drink again.

Good job AI34. Onward and upward. Your body has an amazing, although not endless, capacity to heal itself. Post today and the next few days and let us know how things are going.

I post every morning in the 24 hour thread to remind me of who I am and I can't drink or do drugs. I believe it has helped me a lot!

I count my lucky stars to have avoided liver disease. I was at stage 1 (fatty liver) and I reckon another year or two of drinking would have seen me at the next stage which is fibrosis and irreversible. But even that condition is manageable as is cirrhosis to a certain extent, but liver disease is too grim to think about. You go yellow, your belly swells like you’re nine months pregnant, you go bonkers because the toxins in your blood affect your brain.

You’re luckier than lucky to have been diagnosed at what is hopefully an early stage. You can reverse/control this and get your life back with bells on. And you want to throw that golden opportunity away by drinking?

THIS^^

Such a simple thing, and so powerfully effective. I did the same thing for a couple years. Now I post in Weekenders and "Stay on the Sober Bus" but it's the same tether to my sobriety. A reminder of who I am.

Great decision to stop and let yourself heal. Be kind to yourself, and try to eat and drink well. Loads of water and rest. You can do it!

You can do it! It's hard. Very hard. Dying from liver disease is harder.

You are worth this fight.

Just bumped you from the bottom of the scroll to the top, Al. Hope you are still committed to the idea of sobriety being the only way to go.

So much better for me now at 6 months. It can be for you too.

This time around I made SR my homepage in my browser. I had noticed in the past that if I didn't visit, I would ended up back in hell. So now when I went to get online, I have to go through SR you might say. It has helped me.

Which internet search engine are you using?
Example Firefox...Google Chrome?
I don't want to derail this thread so you may have to PM me or maybe Admin has a How-to on this already?
