I got a sponsor tonight

Working on my 4th step. Not a stranger to AA so it makes sense, but I picked up the phone and made a call.

I usually start with step 1. In case of relapse, I start with step zero.

Best wishes on your sober journey!

It's how he works it given my history. He's got 20 years. I'm just gonna listen and shut up.

Pick up your tools of recovery that you are learning, apply
them to your daily life on a continuous bases and hold onto
you lifelines in recovery to achieve health, contentment and
honesty a day at a time moving forward.

It is an affective guideline that many of us who have achieved
long-term sobriety use and never let go of.

It works because we work it to the best of our human ability.

Support, care and understanding sent your way.

Excellent, PuckLuck! AA has been extremely helpful to me although I don't use it today. I learned a lot with 12 step and incorporate the things I learned into my sober plan, along with other resources, particularly Sober Recovery. Wishing you the best!

Definitely curious about your AA experience with your sponsor that has 20 years of sobriety.

As you move forward with guidance a periodic post on what you are learning would be amazing.

Basically, pass on their knowledge to the gang. I found helping others helps me.

My AA experience was overall positive. I have an AA family less than 2 miles away and I am pretty sure the meetings have started up again (ie. masks and social distancing).

Nothing is perfect. Not relapsing is worth any imperfection.

Thanks.
