Blackout Dreams
I've been sober almost four years. Maybe six times in that period I've taken a drink in a dream, then woken up in a panic until I realize it wasn't real. Last night I had a full-on blackout dream where I unthinkingly took a shot, then later came to with missing time, having to hunt for clues to what happened and what I did, and that horrible sinking, self-loathing feeling that I absolutely DON'T miss from my drinking days.
When does this stop? Or does it stop?

I don't know.
Just don't drink, no matter what.
When I'm under a lot of stress I tend to have bad dreams, otherwise I don't even remember dreams. Are you getting any exercise? I find that a walk outdoors stops any residual anxiety from spilling over into sleep-time.

My approach to dreams is they're just dreams. The only thing upsetting about a dream is our thoughts about the dream. I prefer to see the humor in it. I still have drinking and drugging dreams, and I've been sober over six years. They don't happen often, but I see them as reminders to stay vigilant. Some of that wiring in me still wants to get high. I accept that. No reason to get bent about it.
Hey nustart
I don;t put much store in dreams meaning anything. Unless you're feeling vulnerable when you're awake I wouldn't worry about it.
I still have dreams involving using and drinking but they usually involve others drinking or using now, not me, lol.

I have not had one of those dreams in a while, but I concluded that they may be a good thing. The fact that we wake up relieved to be sober kind of points to the fact that we are very sincere about wanting to stay sober.
